What the list of 'must have' spares to carry with you at track days?

None really. Once though my hanging exhaust was saved by the spare alternator belt.

I normally take the following:

a couple of litres of oil
a couple of litres of water
a trolley jack
a pair of axle stands
a small tool kit
a breaker bar
a torque wrench
some spare blade fuses
a spare DME relay (it's an old Porsche thing)

I used to take a handful of spare water/oil hoses too, but haven't bothered this year.

ETA: I forgot to mention the electronic compressor and tyre pressure gauge. smile

If your brake pads are any more than half worn then a spare set can be handy along with the tools you need to fit them.

Also on tools, a foot pump and pressure gauge.

Add gaffer tape, cable ties and some stiff wire to the top of the list, saved me on a couple of occasions (especially if you have an "off").

Gaffer tape
Cable ties
Wheel nut (don't ask)
2 litre water
1 litre (susally half empty) oil
pants

That's about it. Lack of towcar makes it impractical to take any more.

Take a bin bag and if it goes horribly wrong use it to collect all the broken bits.

Assuming you empty the boot before you go on track, a ground sheet is a good idea to protect all your stuff from the elements.

Good idea to take stuff to clean the windscreen since you will sometimes get muck from the other cars.

Type pressure gauge, spare fluid for water/oil/brakes, if you're the sort of person who is willing to sort out brakes yourself then a change of pads in case you cook the current ones (and the tools needed to fit them).

Brake fluid is probably worthwhile too. When I could the brakes on the 220 the pads were fine but the fluid was cack

That was an interesting drive home...

Okay, thats a good start...

The car i'll be using will be for track only, so will be trailored there (ie Not road legal).

Does nobody carry spare wheels with tyres incase of a tyre issue?

The last porsche day I went and spectated at (at Spa), I saw a couple of guys limping back to the pits with a blown tyre (thats gonna be a long drive home on the spacesaver if they werent carrying spares of sorts!)

PS - the track car is an old 944 bought yesterday locally here in Belg.

Just trying to plan ahead, and so I can keep my eye on ebay etc for potential back-up bits...

I have a trailer, I made a tyre rack and always take spare wheels / tyres now. Makes it much more convenient.

The spares list is pretty much covered above.

Although I thoroughly check and change them if necessary before I leave, I'm with those that have mentioned spare pads and brake fluid (and a tools to change and bleed the brakes). Running out of brakes is a sure way of having to take an early bath.

Yep, and don't fill the car up. Fill up as little as you dare, go out for a session, back in, fill up...
Saves weight, and avoids spills on track.

To answer OP's question, I usually take a Tesco value tent, containing all necessary tools, couple of belts, etc. etc. Basically enough to get it to a nearby road so I can call the AA if I need to.
Spare wheels with track tyres usually go on the day before, but I take two of the "normal" road tyres in case I wear the track ones too much...

With an old 944 there are so many things that might go wrong on a trackday I dont know where to start. I think that you need a lot of reliability testing before you even think about going: maybe a trip into Germany too so that you can see how it deals with protracted hard acceleration and sustained high speed...

How very dare you sir!!! Unreliable, Porsche, Consistent high speeds...! ;0)

I'd have thought a 'performance' orientated standard vehicle has got to be better than suddenly thrashing your shopping car round a race track...

Granted, she getting on a bit in years now - But, Ive only blown half a months wages on the initial vehicle outlay - trying to keep risk and initial outlay to a (reasonable) minimum.

I'll be sure to feedback on how things progress anyway.
