Porsche gearbox oils

I was just wondering what oil I should put it my Porsche 4 speed gearbox and diff and what quantity please, I have written down on a scrap of paper, Castrol EP90 and 3 1/2 litres but would like to check with you guys 1st, thanks.

I use Comma SX75W-90 GL5 which is a semi synthetic.

Steve he's got a 930 4 speed box.... different to the later units, so may take alittle less....

Also I used that Comma and the diff wore out, I then used the Mobile version and also wore the diff out..... Would suggest using that thicker Porsche oil... Ask Blue Satin he has the specs......

The problem is normally the diff contact point is in the oil level, but inverting the box brings the contact point above the oil level, so you need the nice clingy thick oil to help keep it lubed...

California Motor Sports CMS suggests Swepco I believe 321. The people that do my Renault Transaxel, Transaxel Engineering in Chatsworth also suggest Swepco. Both of these shops have great reputations and both have treated me really well over the years. Lee

I used Swepco in my G50/21 6 speed when I had Quaife put an LSD in it as it was recommended on a porker forum, it certainly seemed to be a good oil, and I no problems shifting gears with it...

I am going to go with swepco but where the hell do you buy it from ? been to a couple of motorfactors today and they don't stock it or couldn't recommend anybody either thanks.

Isn't the point here that the porsche unit is a trasaxle and as such has gearbox gears and hypoid bevel gears sharing the same oil . "Problem" is that the hypoid gears will not last in standard gearbox oils but need the hypoid element . Therefore the transaxle must be filled with an EP type oil . Straight gearbox oils will not do even if they are top of the range . Whether or not the hypoid gear contact points are immersed in oil I think is irrelevant .

I have some unopened Swepco 201 (1 x US gal) sitting in my garage languishing from old Ultima days- if this is the stuff you are after give me a shout and I will send on, I do remember I got it from a supplier detailed on the Porche forum

I used to use the same oil that the G50 uses and used to put just over 3 litres in it, if you overfill it the same amount you would a G50 its not a disaster it will gradually throw the excess out the breather.

I use Mobil 1 SHC 75W-90 as recommended by Porsche and CMS for my G96/50. This box takes 4 litres.
