Redundancy Pay Question
Discussion
HI,
Got made redundant at the end of april, out of the blue.
They gave me a check for a months salary as payment (had been there 9 months.)
Then at the end of may I got a pay slip with the money they owed me from april (due at end of may) with the redundancy payment deducted from it?
So, is this normal? Im thinking either they have given me no redundancy or I worked april for free??
Never been made redundant before so unsure, any help much appreciated.
Thanks Oli

You're only legally entitled to redundancy pay if you've been there over 2 years, but what they should have given you is dependent on your contract with them and their policies.
Don't quite understand why april pays would be due in May though? Normally if you get paid at the end of the month then it relates to the month just worked?

Was the payment when you got made redundant in April an advance on your wages due in May or was it a redundancy payment ?
I believe the law is redundancy if you've been there more than 2 years.
Your notice period however has to be paid in full.
Therefore you'd be entitled to the money owed for April wages + your notice period at full salary. You wouldn't be entitled to a redundancy payment unless they specifically said to you that they'd give you a pay off.
