Nurburgring trip- 30/5/09 to 2/6/09
Discussion
What a trip!
Around 1600 miles in total with 6 cars- E30 m3, vxr astra, civic typr r, vx220, vx220 turbo and my E36 m3 evo.
We didnt have a single issue with any of the cars which is good considering the age of the beemers and the build quality of the vx220's!
The trip has highlighted to me how bad driving in the UK is- there are more cameras than I can belive now. The main north-south roads are peppered with 50mph restrictions. The driving in france and germany was like a breath of fresh air. Good average speeds, the odd high speed run and good driving from all road users.
My previous best BTG was 8.48.
This time i've got the car running and handling better and I drank less Bit Burger. I pulled out a 8min 31sec BTG.
I didnt think a time like that was achieveable so I am well and truely happy!
Is there anybody else from PH that was there over the previous week?

Thats bad luck. It only takes a small problem to ruin a ring trip.I hope you made your feelings known to the individual who damaged your car.
I bought a 25 lap ticket for the 4 days.
With hindsight this was far too many, I only managed 13 laps due to all the stoppages.
I have to say it, alot of them included bikes. I am a biker myself but I cant help feeling some of the bikers last weekend didnt make it easy for themselves.
Still, its an excuse to go back and use the remaining laps
(a member of our party has 12 laps for sale if anyone is interested- email me for details)

Yep a fair few of us were over there, we got back yesterday afternoon after leaving on the 30th.
Friend of ours had an incident in his CTR but other than that was ok.
I like the point you have made about the standard of driving and the cameras in this country now, because we managed to cross 3 countries without seeing 1 Police car (few speed cameras on the edges of cities) but the standard of driving is so much higher, everyone understands lane discipline and moves out the way and the traffic is always free flowing, this was my 3rd trip and each time I go it highlights the s
t state of this country again and again.

Is this the CTR that was smashed up and needed the suspension arm welding?Friend of ours had an incident in his CTR but other than that was ok.

Sorry, that's my Astra.
Yes the CTR needed the lower arm bending back into shape and welding. Got it home in the end.
Arh OK, we were speaking to couple of you party down at Blaue Ecke one night and again down near aldi where there was some remodelling going on on the CTR.Yes the CTR needed the lower arm bending back into shape and welding. Got it home in the end.
good work on getting it home, if it was driven- well done.

We've just got back too, great trip as always but far too many stoppages. We were banking on getting lots of laps in on the Tuesday night but again there was a really long closure, so we were a bit gutted by that
Already wanting to go back, awesome place...
We were the group with the white 200sx S14a, red 14a, black S4 and BMW 540
