If you drive the past a Gatso camera within the speed limit until you have passed the white lines painted on the road, and then accelerate hard, and see the camera flash behind you, would you get caught for this?

I ask, because this happened this morning to me, but there were cars behind me that had just passed the camera when I saw it flash, and I just hope it was them and not me being flashed. Probably me just being paranoid.

This happened to me about 5 years ago. I drove slowly past a Gatso and then floored it as soon as I was past the white markings. A second later it flashed twice at me but by that time I was quite a good distance away. I was the only car on the road as it was 3am so it must have been me that set it off.

I never got an NIP so you’re probably safe.

Thanks TSS,

You have put my mind at rest, and is probably nothing to worry about.

If there are no white lines on the road for your two photos, then, presumably, there can be no corroborating evidence to prosecute you.

Remember, that unless the white lines are distinctive, the photographic evidence is deemed as unreliable for prosecution purposes.

I was in Birmingham this afternoon, and noticed that they've put sort of "cat's eyes" in some of the white line markings of a few Gatsos on the A38, presumably, these are the ones that will have cameras and to ensure that they show up on film.

My radar detector, showed that most Gatso boxes on this stretch of the A38, don't give any signal. I deduce that these are "decoys" rather than Gatsos.
