Gendarmerie replica, will it b ok?

Due to a last minute car change, I am now taking my blue 330d touring and wanted to do some last minute stickering. I have someone to make up the vinyls and was thinking of a safety car theme....then I thought how easy a french plod car replica would be, so assuming it does not say gendarmerie anywhere and just uses the stripes etc. I guess it would be ok...anyone have an opinion on this?

I wouldn't. Imitating a police officer in this country is not a good move. Judging on how OTT the French coppers can be, particularly during the Le Mans festivities, I'd give this a miss if I were you.

We got away with it on a couple of banger rallies in our volvo. But we behaved ourselves so we didn't really annoy any coppers.

copper just outside Preston wanted a photo of ours parked up next to his "proper" police car.

It depends if your going for comedy police look or actual replica.

I started a thread on this for Le Mans a while ago with the aim for this years trip. It answered what is legal and what is over the line.

In the end I decided against it due to the hassle that it may bring my way.
