How many Cerbs are left?
Discussion
I know this question has come up before and I don't think it has been answered but as I was bored I thought I'd have a go at a rough estimate.
First lets start with how many Sagaris were made (stay with me on this!). According to certain figures it was around 211. As it's still a valuable car I assume of those that have crashed most will have been repaired. So let's assume there are still 200 in the UK on the road (the Sag register on PH has 152 listed and I'm sure there are a few more).
If we now look at the most recent large TVR gathering, Chatsworth, there were I think around 21 Sags there. ie. around 10% of all Sags.
If we now consider how many Cerbs were at Chatsworth and assume that the same percentage of owners brought their cars to the event. There were about 75-80 Cerbs at Chatsworth (I counted them from photos, I know some left before others arrived). So if that's 10% of the total there would be about 750-800 Cerbs left on the road in the UK. I believe around 1400 were built.
As another check we could look at the number of Sags in the Pistonheads classifieds. There are usually about 8 (bit more at present) ie. about 4% of the 200 estimate on the road. There are usually about 30 Cerbs in the classifieds, if that's 4% on the total then there are about 750 Cerbs left on the road.

You may be right. The 1,400 figure came from here (Ok it was 1490)

I believe these numbers came from Ben Lang at TVR via J Oxley for a New Zealand car registration. They're believed to be not 100% accurate, but not 100% rubbish. The number of 1,996 Cerbs has also been banded about on PH and also apparently came from a TVR employee. However I believe TVR also stated they don't have accurate build numbers on Griffs, Chims & Cerbs.

Hum... well there were three of us parked together today... as there seem to have been for a couple of weeks... (don't worry DIYCERB your car is getting done!)... but not one Sagaris... doh... don't think that helps the statistics much!
From the numbers you'd only get a Sagaris after every four Cerbs. If you'd had another Cerb, a Sag would have appeared!
The first set of figures came via me. This topic has been kicked around a few times before - I suspect that the truth is somewhere between all that has been said, probably because different sources could be counting number of chassis' made, bodies made, cars distributed to dealers, sold by dealers, DVLA registered... and do they include the ones made in Malaysia? Exports to Japan and Europe? Who knows, but if you said 1500 Cerbs were made you're probably within 10% of the actual number.
We see or hear about maybe a dozen write-offs a year via this forum? Lets say that's a third of the actual number that have been written off over the last 12 years. 12 x 36 = 432 written off. That seems a lot, but if it was right then there's maybe 1000 Cerbs left on the road.
Interesting to speculate, but ultimately pointless without facts

Yes you're right it is sort of pointless but I just think there are fewer Cerbs on the road than some people think. If prices slip more cars will be written off if damaged. In reality they should be worth more as there are so few left.We see or hear about maybe a dozen write-offs a year via this forum? With regards to write offs there always seem to be a high proportion of Cerbs at breakers compared with other TVRs considering how many were made and are left. I think it's quite possible 400-500 have been written off. I think there are probably a fair number that still exist but are not on the road (projects in long term storage), maybe as many as 100. There are also probably a few now that are living abroad. So I think the number of 800 in the UK and on the road is not too unreasonable.

It will be very very interesting to know how many CERBERA with Left Hand Drive. A friend of mine who imported them in Italy is authoritative: officially NONE! Maybe there's some conversion. Here in Italy there are surely two Cerbs. I saw them.
I'd love to know also how many LHD Tuscans (mk1 and mk2) have been produced!!!

There was a thread a couple of years ago asking people just to make themselves known in an effort to count those still remaining and that just topped the 200 mark (212 if my memory serves me correctly).
That would only have been PHers, of course.
There are those of us abroad who should be counted but I guess that won't top 20 so another 10% variance.
I have heard that 4 left-hand Cerbs were made by the factory and have heard that there were attempts at LHD conversion (by a Swiss ?) but don't know more I'm afraid.
