The battery is holding a charge as when its not in use I have it on a trickel charger, but when out on a long run the battery draines down and usualy ends up that the car wont restart.
I have got a chap coming over this evening to test the system but to me it points to the alternator even though the charge light dosent come on on the dash.

Does the light come on at all, I’m pretty sure it uses the bulb as an exciter, if you are not sure if the alternator is charging , connect a multimeter on DC volts across the battery, it should read about 12 volts, start the car and it should rise, at 3000rpm it should read between 13.8 and 14.4 volts. Then do the same on AC to check the rectifier, it should read very little.

If it passes these tests the battery is duff.

Can someone help me out by telling me the ford part number for the M400 Alternator.

I have checked Noble parts, but no luck.

Thanks
