Right..

I am using the keyboard and on the Tutorial 8 when you have to fly the jets, I can move the plane using the flaps but how do i use the front wheel to turn the plane becasue i cant figure it out.
I am prob missing something really simple but i am stumped.
Anybody know??

I have never played the game, but do the rudder controls work?

The flaps? Do you mean rudder. On the ground the rudder controls activate the front wheel. Best thing to do is buy a joystick (all you need is something relatively cheap with throttle, like the cyborg evo), or set your flights to take off from an active runway.

Perhaps he also has auto rudder turned on in the settings, which may not give any control to the nose wheel.

At the very least you should be using the mouse yoke (right click main screen, fly with mouse or something). For the sake of 20 quid though get yourself a joystick with a throttle and do it properly! You won't regret it.
