Can a Griff heater blow cold (without air con)?

I have a Griff 500 and I know the heaters and not the best but is it possible (with a few mods?) to get the heater to actually blow cool air (without aircon)? Mine goes from very hot to hot and I have to close all the vents in the summer.

If I understood what the problem was, I guess it might be possible to do something about it. Is it because the wings get hot and the air is passing through them or is it to do with where the air is being sucked in from? Anybody got any thoughts?

Yes, it can blow cold air. But even if EVERYTHING is set up correctly then it will not blow cold air for the rest of a journey as soon as you have moved the water valve and let hot water into the matrix, even if you move it back...

Mine will even go back to blowing coolish air after I've had it on hot. The trick seems to be to turn the fan on full speed and cool the matrix back down.

the valve does need a bit of setting up, in my case of would creep open, so my valve can not move unless
I select the over ride switch.

What's this David, are you working on a/c for the Griffs? I'll volunteer as a guinea pig if you want one

I am indeed working on Griff AC

I had to redesign the original heater box because it wasn't quite the right shape. This was especially annoying because some of the flaps didn't operate properly.

I have a prototype controller working now (same electronics for AC, non-AC and standard Griff heater boxes - just configurable software elements required), and have got sufficient AC parts found that look like they will fit in the Griff now. It's a mixture of Subaru, Land Rover, Nissan and TVR parts...

I have even figured out how to get a bit more airflow out of the standard fan.
