clutch under warrenty
Discussion
Tesco's 'Finest' warranty covers wear and tear and is better than most OEM warranties. It lists all clutch parts as covered. Interestingly, the underwriters of the Tesco policy also run Porsche's policy, albeit for 3 times the price at your friendly OPC. Boxsters are covered by Tesco, 911s have now been deleted and are only covered through Porsche.
All of which does nothing to answer the question but I also will be interested if Audi's OEM/extended warranty does cover wear and tear. I have a Tesco warranty on my A6. £410pa... no inspection required, just a full dealer/indy service history.

If the gearbox blew up, no problem defiantly covered. (unless the car had logged an "over rev" fault code , suggesting someone tried to select 2nd instead of 4th at 110 mph) Which is what happened to our TTS demo last year.
When its clutch its a bit tricky because it is a wear and tear item. If the clutch exploded or mechanically failed (perhaps juddering when there is loads of friction material) left. it would be covered. (even if this is from a racing start or similar) If its just worn out, then it wont be.
Warranty is for mechanical or manufacturing defects.
The trouble is the dealer cant tell what condition the clutch is in without removing it. THe common problem is the car is booked in to look at a clutch judder under warranty, on removal the clutch is found to be worn out and is there fore not covered.
All parts that are replaced under warranty (well most of them) get set back to Audi and are inspected, Audi can debit the dealer the cost of the part, and the labour for fitting it, if send back parts are worn out or not actually faulty, dealers cant afford to have this happen.
