Bought some mice, one's eye seems "swollen"
Discussion
As the title says really, bought some from a breeder on Monday this week, and noticed last night that one of the Males' eyes seems to be swollen.
Is there anything in particular I should do (put him out of his misery??) or is he OK, and it will pass? The thing is, he is the only male in with 2 females and i really want them to breed. Will they get it on, or will his dodgy eye put him/them off?
Cheers
ETA: mods, please leave this thread here as I need a quick response, cheers.

My Hamster brokes his ribs doing backflips off the top of his cage and he still 'played on' as it were.
Wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to puss or weep.
Unless the little chap isn't eating or drinking or spends a long time asleep.
Right, which brings me on to my next question;Wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to puss or weep.

£ of them in one cage, and hardly any water and food (if any) has gone in 3 days!!
Is that normal?

Like moving house... it will take them a while to acclimatise and settle. Especially with each other. Perhaps they have been nest building? Perhaps they were well fed and watered before they left?
If your house is a fair temperature then they may have body stores that they are currently using as they are nervous in a new environment.
Yeah, they seemed OK when with the breeder, so hopefully its just down to nerves.
Is there anything else I should do to encourage them to breed, or are there any special "breeding boxes" I need? Or will they happily go at it?
Also, Ive been told to expect the first litter about 6 weeks after I put them together, is this correct?
Cheers

Why are you breeding them?
Have you got a snake?
I use to breed Astrix mice, now they were cool little things.
Curly haired little mofo's, made a tidy little profit little someone under cut me one week and i ended up with loads of the little blighters i couldn't sell!

Wasn't planning on selling any mice, but maybe worth thinking about...you think its worth a try? Where would I advertise?
Yes, I do have snakes.
Cheers.

Why would you want to breed mice? you will end up with thousands of mice in 6 months.
As for it's eye, it's probably been irritated by a change in bedding. Try cleaning it with a warm teabag.
I was going to separate the mice once I the first litter(?) was born and see how it goes from there. As for it's eye, it's probably been irritated by a change in bedding. Try cleaning it with a warm teabag.
Thanks for the tea-bag tip, I'll give it a go.
Cheers

A Barry White or Lionel Richie CD might help...Is there anything else I should do to encourage them to breed, or are there any special "breeding boxes" I need? Or will they happily go at it?
