Hey there,
We are just rebuilding our motor and when we usually put our copper head gaskets on we spray them with a copper type spray. We have run out of the spray and we would like to know what everyone else uses? or do you not bother using anything?

Cheers
Rob

I recently tried a number of UK suppliers for Gasgacinch but they were out of stock, then I found some here: http://www.kingfisherkustoms.co.uk/productDetail.p...

Hope that helps.

I remember reading Don Garlits biography and he mentioned dropping a head gasket one day and it landing in a puddle, he wiped it off and carried on

Next day he saw gaskets being dunked in puddles all around the pits...

I use a high temp gasket silicone around water and oil passages. Have been doing that for over 15 years with no problem (so far)

Ah! but did he tell you he had heated it up to a cherry red colour before he dropped it in the puddle. Anyway can someone tell me why they are putting things on head gaskets??sonar

If youve got o rings and dont run water, then a tiny bit of silicon around the oilway on a hemi on both sides of gasket works, dont forget silicon squashes in as well as out,so use sparingly,do the valley bolts up tight before doing up rest of head bolts, chevy thing gets it oil to the top via pushrods so oil ways are only drainback,so no pressure.copper gaskets that is,this is done to stop leaks!!

Suppose i should have see that coming. Not a lot of water in a solid Rodeck.
Bye the way Bill That Rodeck in your yard needs a lot of attention to the v/v train as theres no provison for oil up there. Pass it on. Ta
