Help me with a petition?
Discussion
Hey guys,
I wanted to ask you for help in voicing your displeasure for an American radio jock who has made some offensive remarks against Armenians. In addition to suggesting we should get rid of Glendale, a suburb of Los Angeles with a large Armenian population, in order to solve the budget crisis, his co-anchor has suggested that he, Bill Handel, would, "...finish what the Turks started," referring to the Armenian genocide of 1915 in which 1,500,000 innocent men, women, and children were killed by the Young Turk government.
These comments are not only racist, disgusting, and grossly offensive, they have no place on the airwaves. We are seeking a public apology from him and his producer.
If you could spare 10 seconds to sign in, here is the link: http://www.petitiononline.com/fg343221/petition.ht...
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like this was a comment made for comedy value. Whilst the comment may not be amusing to many, we do live in a free society where such remarks should be tolerated.
Personally I'm fed up with censorship so won't be signing your petition.
What is the comedic value in saying someone should finish what Hitler started, for example? There is no comedy in that, there is no value whatsoever.Personally I'm fed up with censorship so won't be signing your petition.
You just don't understand because you have no national/ethnic idenity/pride.
I can understand why an Armenian Turk might be troubled, but you're an American it seems.
How come YOU'RE allowed to be nationalistic but nobody else is? Oh yes, the minority card, I forgot. Well I'm sick of bloody minorities telling me what I can and can't do, say and think.
ETA: Anyway, you can't be rude about the Turks because they're Muslims and you're not allowed to upset them either. Hence it's all b
ks, QED.

How dare you tell us what we have. I am proud to be English. I wouldnt sign your petition as it is not relevant to me. Tell you what you should do. If you really dont like it sue him.
oh no, you have the freedom of speech. That means he can say what he likes.
You could always sue him in the British courts.
Or just turn to a different radio station.

I do, I'm Scottish, but you can still stick your petition. Free speech is much more important than taking offence at comments designed to be provocative.... Just turn the channel.Start a petition to have Bush and Blair hauled up in front of a War Crimes Commission and I'll see what I can do....

So you are wanting signatures of people who never heard him, were never offended by him.
If you can't get enough signatures from people who were listening, the listeners don't care.
I believe you can change radio stations on most of these modern wireless units.
Quite. If you can't get enough signatures from people who were listening, the listeners don't care.

Just because it doesn't amuse you it should be banned? This sounds a little fascist to me - didn't 'Christalnacht' centre around banning/burning things that didn't amuse the Fuhrer? You just don't understand because you have no national/ethnic idenity/pride.
I can only assume you know all about me to state with such puerile confidence that I have no national/ethnic idenity (sic)/pride. Stunning work.
