SLK Scrubbing Tyres...
Discussion
Hi All,
I am after a bit of help please. I got no replies on the Mercedes Forum.
My wife has a 1999 SLK 2.3 Auto. Standard wheels, etc. It has covered 120k miles and is never driven hard.
It is scrubbing out a set of tyres every 10k miles. Outside edges on the fronts and Inside edges on the rears. I had a 4 wheel alignment done last year and it has made no difference. The guy who set it up thinks the problem may lie with the springs and bushes being tired with the high mileage. And as Camber / caster has little and no adjustment on this model, the ride height running lower is causing the scrub.
I have heard that Mercedes may do a Kit that enables camber adjustments. Has anyone heard of this, or are there any other theories that may solve the problem. It could just need a new set of springs ?
Thanks in advance…………… Bob
