Just went to get my car out of the garage and my starter motor has gone, sounds like a machine gun so does anyone know if its covered by the AA warranty also does it make a difference if the car is at my house or do i have to break down miles from home.
Will they take the car to a garage to be fixed, if so would it be better to ring them tomorrow when they are open.

thanks

If you have Home Start, then call them out and yes the starter will be covered smile

swapping a starter is quite easy - takes about an hour the first time you do it. There are a few threads on here on how to do it. Just take it off have it reconditioned and refit. Might be easier and cheaper than relays, garages etc.

i had my starter replaced with the AA warranty. if you have home start call them If you dont, i dont think they will cover you. for the cover to be valid you have to have broken down and call them out

£30 says she will start with jump leads or a new battery.

mine does this if the battery is slighlty low, the battery seems to be full of life as it can run the fans and radio withg lights etc but there is not enough oomphh or CCA's to spin it over.

What was wrong with the one sitting in your garage? Was it clicking, squealing?

Well AA turned up in 20 mins ended up the battery which they replaced all for £25 the car is running great again as it has been running really rough for the past two weeks, have fiddled with loads of things to get it running smooth and nothing helped but now its back to normal. Thanks all for the help
