Evo brakes

Having a look at upgraded brake kits for my BMW track car, I'm being put off by the huge costs (circa £1500 just for the fronts!)

I know most EVO's run Brembo brake calipers as standard and several of these pop up on Ebay at reasonable prices so I'm thinking of giving them a go. I can get some brackets made up easily enough, I'm just wondering what the differences are between the standard brakes fitted to the different EVO models, and which ones might be worth seeking out over others. Also what diameter discs do they use?

Ive just bought these (below) for my 300zx. Ignore the discs as I only bought the calipers, the discs are off a 350z. Anyway to the question asked, as far as i'm aware the brembos are the same on all models from 5 through to 9 prior to 5 werent Brembo at different spec on the 10. My fronts cost me £150.00 delivered and they vary on there around that price. You can only see ads on there after they have been posted for 3 days unless you subscribe.

Forgot to say mine are off a 2004 Evo8 MR FQ300

As above, all Evos from 5 to 9 (bar the RS models which had rubbish gravel brakes) have the same size brembo calipers.

Not sure on disc size, but a quick look on camskill for standard Evo front discs should get you your answer.

I can highly recommend the Carbotech XP10 pads with these calipers for track work, I'm on my second set now after using Performance Friction pads for a while and the Carbotechs never cease to impress.

Many thanks for the advice. I've got some measurements and will now have a look at what's involved with having some brackets made. Anyone got any tips on what grade steel to use for these?

Don't suppose anyone knows the thickness of the standard discs do they?
