"HELP" i have a rhd 94 diablo 5.7 rwd, i changed the distirbutor cap on it and lost the firing order on it, the firing order 1,7,4,10,2,8,6,9,5,11 shown on the engine doesnt seem to be doing it, the car starts and idles rough has no power and the engine tone is not right, i may have the postion one on my distibutor cap wrong, i am using a jag xjs cap which is exactly the same but can fit either way as it has no locating pins for which way up, i would really appreciate any information on this, prefebly a daigram of all the leads and what postion they would fit in, the cap has 1A,1B,5A,5B,3A,3B,6A,6B,2A,2B,4A,4B AND COIL A AND COIL B ON IT, i am situated in Birmingham.....Thanks

Someones been a bit silly !!!!

Firstly, your firing order is wrong, unless you've lost a cylinder or two ( no 3 and 12 )

If the cap isnt right...it isnt right. It must be located correctly. The rotor arm must be the right shape and size to rotate past all the tower contacts inside the cap.

If you dont know where the start/no1 is on the cap, then it'll take a miracle to get it to run.
Remove plug from no1 cylinder, and locate TDC on firint stroke so you can pinpoint no1 location on the dizzy, and note direction of rotation on the dizzy.

And when you mention 2 coils....how many dizzys are there ? Are they treated as a single V12, or a pair of straight 6's with firing order 1,5,3,6,2,4

I think 6 cylinders engine or bigger have the wiring order written on distributor cap. You only need to follow the wire installed according to the order written on it, unless the car will run lumpy.

Unless you are using the different distributor cap as the OP mentioned...

And wiring order means little if you have lost No1, and misplaced a couple of cylinders lol

What problem were you trying to fix by changing the distributor cap in the first place?

the car has been in storage for a while and built up moisture in the cap, car ran well when cap was cleaned so i thought id replace the cap and the rotor to get it 100%...

OK, so clean the original cap thoroughly with meths, let it dry completely, put it back on, how does it run then?
