Just had a quick look round the Jaguar forum, but cannot find a thread about the latest piccies on Car magazine's website of the new XJ.

Here's the link: http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Searc...

I think it looks better than I thought it would, and the front headlights work quite well. Perhaps this is just another "artist's impression" but assuming they know what they are talking about, I'm quite impressed.

Afraid I don't like it. Too much XF and not enough of the earlier sleak Jag lines. I'm increasingly of the opinion the X308 was the last pretty XJ (not that I'm biased biggrin).

But what do I know? I'm a mere peasant and couldn't afford one anyway.

Have to agree there - the X300/308 is the most beautiful of the modern era Jags. My father has just decided (with my help smile ) to replace his Rover 75 with a XJ and wants a reasonably new one but is not pleased with the X350, says it looks too much like an X-Type, which he calls a Ford (sorry guys).

Some designs just look right from every angle and Jaguar has had more than its fair share of achingly pretty cars. I look at an X300 and wonder how you could improve it but, a bit like with a E-Type, I don't think you can without spoiling it.

I own a 308 and I have to say as much as I love her, she looks very like my old S2. Jaguars were always modern, certainly when Sir William was in charge. If this is very like the new XJ, that will be fine by me.

Sorry, don't like that. Also a '308 owner and believe they look much better then this. This new XJ looks too long and slab sided, and the grille on the front is too big. Still, I'm not exactly target audience so hopefully those that are in the position to actually buy one will like it.

I was speaking largely in reference of the X350. I also said "increasingly", smarty pants.

Go on I bet you can find some spelling/grammatical errors as well. biggrin

True - some cars don't photograph well and other flatteringly.

Need to find one parked up and have a good nose before I decide it isn't as good as old Jags smile
