I am a recently appointed governor at Falconer’s Hill Junior school in Daventry. They have a fete organised for the 27th June to try to raise money for the school and I am trying to make it a bit more interesting than the usual stuff, as there is plenty of land to play with.

As I played a big part in the launch of Belfast & Furious, Fast & Furious Brighton and I ran the NEC Classic Car Show for a while (amongst a lot of other stuff) I though it would be a good idea to round up a display (something for the Dad's as well). Please bear in mind this is only a small event and the only pole dancing you'll see at this is Maypoles:0)I'm just looking for a bit of help for a good cause.

So, even if you, or your club is not based in the area, if you know anyone that owns a car that would be willing to display for a few hours, all in a good cause, please point them in my direction. As this was my idea and the rest of the committee is busy with other features I am now under the cosh! So I am hoping for a decent response.

The regional newspaper is helping get the word out to owners & clubs to bring along their vehicles for a display of interesting cars, which will hopefully attract people from all over the area, not just the parents & families tied to the school / area.

We have plenty of land to play with and I hope it may develop into something bigger, given more time to plan. Sandwiched between the M40 and M1, Daventry is not difficult to get to; although our only claim to fame is a McDonalds ad in which nobody had heard of Daventry!

Please fee free to email me at edward_milton@o2.co.uk or call 0773 951 9797. I know it's short notice, but I thought there may be some of you out there that live close enough or would just fancy a drive out.

Many thanks.
ATB
Eddie

Im very local, Lang Farm, but just sold my mildly interesting Cooper S for a massive BMW which may not quite be the right machinery!

Good luck though smile

We'll be a maybe, the only deciding factor is that there is a ferrari day on that day too. We're based near the marches.
If we don't go, then we'll be happy to help out with an F355 and a 250 gto, would they be on hard standing or grass though?

Hi mate,

Not sure if you got last response, Mini looks cool. If you come across anyone else willing to chip in, please point them in my direction. I am on Timkin Estate and spotted a 1980's Lotus Esprit outside somebody's house, so I am going to knock on the door later:0)

My neighbour works for Aston Martin and often comes home with some cool cars. He had the car from the James Bond film oustide the house the other day - with the number plates in the boot. Unfortunately he is away on the day.

I can bring my toy along if you'd like. It's not much to look at sat next to Ferraris and the like, but I can bring it along anyway. I'm also willing to do a few passenger rides if people are willing to put their life in my hands. evil

To all, thanks for all your inputso far, I am replying to everybody by email, but just to say it is gaining momentum and hopefully we'll have a decent display of cars. I am sure the kids (and the dads) will be chuffed and, if we have a good collection, I can really punt it out to the other villages etc. I am certain the local paper/s will cover it as well. I'll take it to the wire, so keep 'em comingredface) I will email everybody a bit nearer the time with details, map etc.

Um, might have a slight problem making this now. It would appear that I'm on call as of the 26th, and I had kind of forgotten about it. Sorry if it lets the side down at all, although if you do end up having more of these events, please let me know.

Hi Snake,
No probs,I really appreciate the thought. As I said, I have a year to plan the next one, so we'll get a real decent classic & sportscar event together for 2010, with plenty of planning. Hopefully I have a few for this year, assuming everyone who said they are coming can still make it - and the weather is OK, of course. Anyone else out there, it's still not too late to put the word around or come along yourself. Cheers.

I have a Porsche 911 (993) that I can bring along. What time do you need me there and what time are we expected to stay until? I'd be happy to give some passenger rides as well, although my exhaust noise may frighten some of the younger children! Where is this fete located exactly? Can you PM me the postcode?

Hi Eddie,

Have been reading this thread with interest and trying to work something out with my time. I have a 2000 DB7, or, dependant on weather, a 1969 Pagoda SL. Would like to help out, but may have only a few hours. Could you P.M. me with a postcode and times for your event?

Thanks, Mark.

Hi Mate,

Don't know school's postcode but not far from NN11 9FU. It is in Ashby Road Daventry. It is on fom 11 - 2, but even a couple of hours would be great. I will be doing a round-up later and I am sure it will be weather dependant for everyone.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

I have a red Toyota Celica GT-Four WRC to offer if you'd be interested. Has the gigantic raised real spolier so would probably go down well with the kids. Let me know either way, I won't be offended if you aren't interested.
