SCH09 - thanks, random thoughts, etc......
Discussion
Morning all
I think it fair to say that the way from the weather turned out from mid-morning, the number of cars that came along, the amount of £'s raised for Steps and the number of positive comments made elsewhere.... that SCH09 was a success.
As has been said elsewhere it was a great Saturday night in the pub that continued round the fire in Robbie and Hilary's tented village. Thanks for the hospitality.
After getting soaked packing the tent away and following Ragtop to Gaydon struggling to see the huge puddles through the fogged up windsrcreen, I arrived in heavy rain to an empty car park, apart from Mycroft putting on his "full wets" and a couple of other cars
However the blue sky that seemed to be on the horizon for ages did eventually arrive, as did plenty of cars. The carpark looked a lot better from the ramp in the afternoon sunshine when we returned from the scenic drive
A big thank you to everyone who made the effort to get there despite the dreadful early conditions. I am sure I speak for Dale, Dave, Chris & Mark when I say it made the effort of putting it all together worthwhile.
Thanks also to Frank & Norman for the afternoon route (with Norman's last minute "extension"!), Andy & Tony for their help with the mug logo, and John & Bill from Gaydon.
Finally I think it was a stunning amount we raised for charity (just over £500 I think) considering the reduced numbers due to the weather. I think it was a particularly nice gesture from Ragtop to buy the final mug and donate it as raffle prize
I'll confirm the final total raised asap.
Finally, congratulations to all of the competition & raffle prize winners.
I cannot speak for Chris, Dave, Dale or Mark but having organised S Club in 2008 & 2009 I feel that the time is right for someone else to now take over the lead role - I've got a growing family and more happening in my life as each year passes and fresh ideas/people are always a good thing! I've got a comprehensive "to do" spreadsheet that I can easily give to whoever would like to be involved in running S Club 2010, plus lots of ideas for venues etc that have not been used yet!
I'll still be available to offer support and advice over the phone or email and will also be prepared to help out on the day
And as discussed in the pub on Saturday evening I will give some thought to organising an "S Club on Tour" weekend away somewhere for 2010 (such as northern France) if there is enough interest.
Thanks to everyone for making the last 2 S Clubs so enjoyable.
Cheers,
Longers

I did enjoy both SCH 08 and 09 - its great to meet and chat to the members of this forum but I think once a year is not frequently enough. Yes a BIG event each year in the 'summer' so I would suggest keeping the format of S Club Heaven ie an overnight camp for the brave and (possibly) foolhardy and then the venue on Sunday as its been.
But how about getting together regionally in earlish spring and lateish autumn say just for the afternoon and possibly a meal/drinks in the evening.
I would be quite happy to organise something a couple of times in the year in the Midlands.
What do you all think? Any other dippy volunteers?

Yes, let's have another meet up!
I can organise a TVR/S meet on the Isle of Wight...camping/hotels, lots of good food, nice weather and scenery. Discounted ferry prices are also possible.
I'd be up for this-( nothing to do with the fact i can see the Island from my house though)I can organise a TVR/S meet on the Isle of Wight...camping/hotels, lots of good food, nice weather and scenery. Discounted ferry prices are also possible.
