Damp Carpet Question

Guys,

The carpet in my 3R is getting wet in between the door sill and the seat on the drivers side of my car. It's literally right next to the seat rather than in the footwell.

Are there any coolant pipes and the like that run through the door sill that could be creating this? I do have a leak in one of the coolant pipes but that's in the engine bay.

Tried searching on the subject but couldn't find anything similar.

Is this all the time of when the car gets wet? possibly floor needs resealing. Mine does, altho only does it when being washed as im a pansy and its dry use only.

Yeah it sounds like the outer edge of the floor is letting the water in.
Rivet heads have probably corroded off and the panel has lifted away.

Try peeling the carpet back and getting someone to pour water over the windscreen on that side of the car. It will run down the bulkhead? and seep into the area you are talking about if it's a leak.

sometimes the leak can be through the door seal where the metal wing mirror flange closes. Easy fix - pull the rubber seal away and build up with a couple of pieces of gaffer tape or similar cut to size. Replace rubber seal over the tape and usually the extra 'bulking' is enough to re-seal (and stop the wind noise as well).

I did strip the carpet out of my car, sealed it temporarily with fernox from inside and a body sealer from underneath, it has worked 95% but will take the floor off later in the year and reseal properly
