Managed to get a handful of laps round bruntingthorpe in a 4.3 Vantage Coupe for my 21st, and it has established itself high on the list of things I MUST own at some point (i'm only young and it's something to aspire to own in a few years)

There is no real point to this post, but I envy all you lot who get to drive around in them on a daily basis, I wonder what they will bottom out at?

I also drove a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, more power, more grip, louder and a fair bit quicker....but it just didnt leave the lasting impression the Aston did, I understand why everyone bats on about the "occasion" of driving them.

There is loads of point to your post. Dont give up on your dream. At your age I had a clapped out Mini. ( leave it !!) I may now be at the age where I shake hands with dinosaurs but I got there in the end and boy is it worth it.
Good luck.

Hi there,

I also participated in a track day like this for my 18th. Unfortnately, did not drive an Aston Martin. When I go back, I will drive one!

I drove the LP560, LP640 and F430 and there really is no better incentive in my opinion. For me, nothing motivates me more than to own one of these machines.

Really was a cracking day and hopefully I will some day be in a position to blow a large sum of money on a car!

Until then, car shows and the very occasional track days are the closest I will get!

I have to say that driving mine every day is a real pleasure, and puts a smile on my face every time I get in it. Couldn't say that for my Porsche previously.
I'm surprised you didn't enjoy the Gallardo spyder as much though - quite a car, though different!

The Gallardo spyder was amazing dont get me wrong, the sound in particular was immense (made the aston quiet in comparison, though didnt notice the step at 4k revs...perhaps it had been played with to stay quiet...or perhaps I was too busy concentrating), I left both with a grin like the cheshire cat!

But I have a thing for Aston's, and it just appealed more on the basis of it was the car I would most like to drive away with. It felt a lot smaller and just appealed more, cannot really quantify it as the Gallardo on paper is the 'better' car, and was brilliant fun, but the aston felt a bit more special, I guess as a result of my long standing desire to own one, a personal bias.

Only question is, Traditional Silver/Grey or Toro Red? scratchchin

Go Toro smile

As for values, who knows. I reckon the rate of descent will slow markedly now, and suspect they'll hold in the 30-35k bracket eventually.

They really are excellent cars. And the great thing is that if you give them time, they grow on you even more.

Toro with sports pack. (4.7 is awesome!) Don't think about resale either. If the credit crunch did one good thing it was get the speculators out of Aston's. An Aston's for life...not just to use as a pick up line!

Exactly my thoughts, Toro 4.7 (as much as the 4.3 is great the car would be a keeper, so 4.7 it is) with the sportspack and NEVER to be sold, I have promised myself one and if I dont sell it ever, 35k isnt much really when you consider it's just 2x BMW 3 series .etc

Madness, has to be Meteorite Silver ;-)

4.7 is supposed to be a decent leap on from the 4.3 for sure. Am more than happy with my 4.3 with the AM power upgrade though for now. Just be glad you didn't drive a DBS or you'd have more money to start saving!

It's not like i'm going to afford one anytime soon, 21 and fresh out of uni, but one day I will own one, perhaps if I could work my way into the dealership network scratchchin can't think of a more perfect job.

Went to the Motor Show Expo over the weekend and asked re the changes to MY10. Most are cosmetic such as a new front grill, a choice of new alloys, an improved satellite nav system (have they taken it out) and options in the 4.7 Vantage from the 6.0 such as the fixed back seats, alcantara steering wheel.

All availble now from your dealer for Sept delivery.

Edited to add "Powerfold mirrors" standard in MY10.

On that note, can anyone recommend a decent supercar track day? Am looking for a mixture of ferrari, lambo, aston, porsche and an R8 if poss. Came across driving experiences up in warwick which looks good value. Any thoughts?

I went with Drivers dream days, thought it was good, but have little to compare it to, 3 laps in each car (around 10 mins driving) and a hot lap/4x4 ride thrown in to the price

they had all the cars you mention (at Bruntingthorpe, but they travel around to different locations) but to drive all would be quite pricy, £300+ and a full day
