Ok chaps, started to do a fair bit of work on my car of late so got some quesions:

1) What do you use to buff off wax?
2) How long do you leave wax to cure?
3) Any advice for paiting wheel nuts as they are a bit rusty?
4) What product would you use to glaze / seal after waxing?

Many thanks!!

1) Microfibre cloth - the fluffier the better. Dodo do a blue one, it's very good.

2) Depends - wherever you're buying it from, ask the question of them or the manufacturer/distributor. Some can be literally wipe on, buff off within 30 secs-1 min, others need 15-30 mins to set up.
Swipe test is often a good indicator - swipe a finger through the layer applied, and if it comes away clean (no smearing) then it's ready to remove. If you leave it too long, most can be buffed with the help of a drop of QD on the panel or cloth.

3) Apart from Hammerite smooth, Bilt Hamber have some rust treatment, which will let you paint them properly, but as soon as you put the brace/gun on the them, it's likely to come off surely? For the hassle and time, it might be easier and cheaper in the long run to just replace them.

4) Glaze goes on under the wax, Meg's #7, Dodo Lime Prime Lite, Clearkote Vanilla Moose being the main contenders.
Sealant goes on clean, bare paintwork with the wax over it, and there are some synthetic glazes aimed at doing what the mineral oil ones do, but of the couple I've played with - I've not seen anything to suggest they are merely hocus pocus.
So, stick with a sealant then a wax layer when cured fully, or a glaze/wax combo - doing multiple layers of this that and the other is nonsense in my book, and purely an exercise in "all the right tools, but not got a clue".
One option though, would be to glaze and wax as indicated above, then after the next wash, use Dodo Red Mist which is a short-term sealant-cum-QD.
Their version of Zaino Z-8, which when I tried it, couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Not tried DJ RM, so not trying to suggest it'll be the same, but then everyone is different, and there's no accounting for the placebo effect or Emperor's new clothes syndrome.

1 A good deep pile micro fibre.

2 Depends on product, but in general a good well
known carnuba about 10 to 15 mins.

3 I have used a high temp exhaust spray paint seems
to work well with heat and looks good.

4 dodo or zymol works well, seal glaze lots of them
about. I use Meguiars.

Products are a personal choice. Use whatever works
best for you in regards of ease of use and finish.

Hope this helps

Thanks chaps.

1) So I am alreday using MF so I am happy with that.

2) Again, already leaving for 10 mins or so - prob ok I guess then.

3) Will have a look round... new set of nuts are expensive and will also go rusty again.

4) Ah, well I will stick with just wax for now then!

Cheers!
