Further to the recent Oil Temperature Gauge and Oilstat group buys, is there any worthwhile modification out there that we could all benefit from doing a bulk purchase on?

Ideas on a postcard

I 'may' take on responsibility, depending how technical it is, if it involves cutting pipework to ensure fittings i'm out hehe but certainly willing to negotiate for stuff.

Right, i've fired off a few e-mails on the R888s, will let you know how I get on.

Brakes I know st all about, only that you push the middle one and you stop, so i'll leave that to someone else.

Manifolds...where do you start? I'll leave that...

Induction kits were mentioned, do we want the full caboodle, pipes, chip etc? I guess they're pointless without the chip?

Not bad idea, however..

Earlier in the year I enquired about having my airboxes ceramic coated. They can do a number of coloured finishes, and the coating would protect from the heat coming from the exhaust.

Obviously having the exhaust coated would be the better option, stop the point of heat, but it's far more difficult to remove those for the average guy on here.

Anyone interested in sending their airboxes off for a spot of high tech coating?

I can find out, but it's bloody expensive, hence I held off, but here was my initial enquiry reply.

"Thank you for your recent e-mail enquiry.

We can certainly coat the airboxes for you with a ceramic thermal barrier coating with aluminium top finish to assist with reflection of radiated heat. To offer a rough price we would need to see a drawing or photograph of the component with dimensions please. As you comment, coating of the exhaust would be ideal; for improved thermal protection we would always recommend coating at the source of the heat.

The cost to coat a pair of V8 (4:2:1) manifolds from a TVR Cerbera is £732 for our Performance White coating or £840 for any from our Performance Colours range. Prices exclude shipping and VAT. Turnaround is a maximum of 10 working days with [payment accepted via cheque, credit card or bank transfer.

From the image supplied I would estimate the cost of coating the airboxes will be in the region of £600.

I look forward to hearing from you with details of the airboxes, in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.

Kind regards

Peter."

As you can see, it's expensive. Probably one of the things to get done after all other 'bits' have been done, perhaps have the exhausts/airboxes done if you ever have the engine out.

Re the induction kits...

I would personnaly prefer without the chip as I think if you are doing this mod you really need the car re-mapped properly. I also live miles away from joo and would get it mapped at Austec where I have had it mapped before.

Maybe we could do a buy with and without?

Manifolds are high up on my list, i tried to get some interest in a GB a while back as they are bloody expensive and the OH would probably injure me severely if a set turned up at the door.

There are only one maybe two places that have the pattern so its limited and a discount would only be granted for probably 10 or more.

I've been in contact with Joo.

The standard pricing structure for induction kits are:
£350 induction kit
£500 mapping
£850 total

He already does a deal in his ebay shop in which you receive a voucher for £50 off remaps if you buy the induction kit from the ebay shop at £350 which makes mapping £450 £800 total.

However,

Now if we can get 5 people to commit to buying induction and remaps he can knock a further £50 pounds off the ebay price making it a total of £750 for the kit and remap.

If we can get 10 people he would do it for £700 but finding 10 people with £700 to spare right now might be asking a lot, but it's worth a shot.

For comparison of how much prices have come down, this used to be £1134!!

There's no VAT on the new prices now either so what's quoted above is the total price unless there were other issue with the cars that needed addressing first*

 • Important

Seems like a good offer to me.

What about 10 people to buy the induction kit without the re-map, then it would be up to the individual person where he/she gets the re-map.

This is what I would prefer as Joo is hundreds of miles from where I live.

I'll ask, but i'd assume he can do a deal on the whole to include mapping as it's his time, whereas the induction kit itself has a cost attached to it, but there might be a bit of leeway?
