When Barry says...

"It takes one second. It takes really one second," said Barrichello when asked how to stop Button's momentum.

Does he mean 'per lap'?

The only possible interpretation I could think of was that he needs Jenson to make a mistake - which only takes a second - so that Rubens can outqualify him or finish ahead of him.

I think he's inferring that Jenson's confidence will then take a hit and Barri can take his chance.

Other than that, I can't think what he could be on about.

Rubinho has a great opportunity to start turning things around at the next GP.

He usually goes very well at Silverstone. So if he can't outscore Button there, I think he'll have to resign himself to disappointment this year.

Even at this stage it's going to take more than one mistake as Button has more than 2 win's worth of points above him. I know Hamilton lost that kind of lead towards the end of 2007 but he was inconsistent that year. Button's current dominance is completely different.

Correct, I think Rubens knows his only real chance is for Jenson's head to drop and for Rubens to then take the initiative and repeatably outqualify and outrace him.

Unfortunately for Rubens, he more often than not gets outraced by Button even if he starts ahead on the grid. I'm sure he believes what he says but I'm not sure what he is envisaging will come to pass...

The look on Barry Cello's face after he got out of the car in the garage on Sunday was one of totla dejection. I think he's resigned to the fact that Button is faster/getting a better crack of the whip. Anything he says to the press is simply phillibustering.

He must mean per race lap, because thats what he will need to be DWC.

JB Im afraid is just to good, and Barry is looking for any excuse in the hope of a drive for next year.
He knows that if he can take a good number of poles/wins and run Jenson to the wire he has a strong chance to be on the grid next year.

Just listen to what Ross Brawn has to say about him in the public domain.

Only positive for Rubens at the weekend was that he had a car failure when he wasnt going to score any points anyway

Interstingly, RB was on the point of being lapped by the race leader when he retired.

I wonder if seeing the sister car in his mirrors persuaded him to call it a day?

To be fair, he must have been losing a shed load of time with no top gear.

I am not partisan in any of this, although I am enjoying seeing new faces (IYSWIM) on the podium.

I think that good fortune is self-reinforcing though. Button won the 1st GP of the season, which must have given his self-confidence a huge boost and set him up for the second win....and so on.

Before the knives come out, Button would not have been able to do it if he was a no-talent or the car sucked. By the same token, IF Barry Cello had won the first GP, there might have been an awful lot of very happy Brazilians by now.

I've read an explanation somewhere that the driver can set how aggressive the clutch is (I think it was a Mark Hughes article on BBC). Looks like he went for an aggressive setting hoping for wheelspin rather than clutch slip and got neither.

What's the number of consecutive kart race wins for Button again?

I read somewhere it was an incredible 54 wins on the trot!
