Post them here. I'll start with:

Femtolasers: To get an idea of how quickly the latest ultra-fast lasers operate, try an F-16 fighter. With the throttles fully open at supersonic speed the jet would barely traverse an atom in the same time as a pulse from one of today's fastest lasers.

Cheers,

FT.

If you filled the boot of a lotus elise with the material from the surface of a neutron star - it would impact performance and handling somewhat as the car would weigh a little over 100,000 tonnes.

Surely not?

Surely its far far far far far far far heavier than that?

If a car engine was 100% efficient it would run from a single drop of petrol for all of its useful life.

Yeah, it's in the hundred million million tonne / m3 range.

From wiki: A neutron star is so dense that one teaspoon (5 millilitres) of its material would have a mass over 5×10^12 kg.[7] The resulting force of gravity is so strong that if an object were to fall from just one meter high it would only take one microsecond to hit the surface of the neutron star, and would do so at around 2000 kilometres per second, or 4.3 million miles per hour.

That's acceleration!

Cheers,

FT.

Converting all the mass to energy perhaps, or if your calculations are being done with no friction and in a vaccuum. Combusting it would probably get you about 600 mpg if the engine was 100% efficient.

Sirley that would be defined in the '100% efficent' statement.

If your wife buys some hair removal products and you jokingly say "Finally doing your top lip then" you will be hit across the room so fast that when you hit the wall you will have jumped back 30 seconds in time and be able to watch yourself make the mistake.

1 cubic centimetre of petrol contains 34kJ of energy.

Accellerating 1000kg from 0 to 30mph requires 89kJ.

Even without friction and in a vaccuum you would run out of petrol before you got past walking speed on a drop.

My Focus C-Max is the worlds most boring car.

In the time it takes to get from rest to 60mph you could possibly lapse into a coma.

Really? Are you sure you don't mean the fastest British produced aircraft? Looks to be about 50mph slower than the Eurofighter....Still amazing though!

sorry Fella, everyone know the fastest car ever's a hire car.

Since we are on the fact hunt, here's one.

There are more hydrogen and oxygen atoms in one tespoon full of water, than there are teaspoons full of water in the Atlantic Ocean.

Not according to E=mc2. Some sort of nuclear fusion engine perhaps? But then petrol would be an odd choice of fuel...

The Three Gorges Dam in China has used 26.43 million cubic meters of concrete.

That's enough to pour a slab 1km x 1km to a depth of 85 ft.

If the weight of your urine is less than the force of the wind that you are pissing in to, your trousers will receive a light splash below the knee.

If the wind is 5x the weight of your urine the chap next to you is likely to get it in his face.
