Coil for Electronic Ignition
Discussion
Tried getting my mini based special running the other day and found I wasn't getting a spark from the HT side of the coil. The LT side has 12v going to it but nothing seems to come out.
The coil in there at the moment is a Lucas DLB110 with no external ballast resistor that I can see (although the resistance across it is 1.6 Ohms, which I think I read is the recommended/required resistance, is the resistor internal on this coil?), and the distrubutor is an electronic one (45D?) with the screw down type cap.
My question is can I use any coil with this distributor, if so, which one do people recommend and how do I know which ones require a ballast resistor? Any advice would be much appreciated as ringing local motor factors only gets the reply "Lucas have gone bust, I think this is an equivalent one..."
Thanks
Alex
