My Griff 4.3 has been fitted with two cooling fans. One of them doesn't work when the engine needs cooling. I've checked the 40Amp fuse which is OK, and the horn still works (I've read that some two fan models have one fan wired into the horn circuit). Is there anything I could be missing?

Thanks,

Dan.

Ah-ha!

Have you sussed whether a different fuse is gone? My 500 has the fans on seperate circuits and my line of fuses was, slightly different from the "Bible"'s idea of a typical layout, such that about the third or forth from the left blew, for no apparent reason, and was in line for the left-hand fan (looking from the driver's seat). Now there is every possibility that your set up is different, but my RH fan and horn both worked fine - and I could not obviously trace anything else linked to that particular fuse.

I must admit, I only checked the one fuse. The problems sounds very familiar to yours though - Right-hand fan and horn working, but no left fan. I'll check the other fuses over the weekend.

Thanks,

Dan.

I have one on the last Griff500's and the fans are on separate 25amp fuses. I found out the hard way, but that another story

I think the newer system is indeed two fuse, two relay system. My 95 had one fuse but my 99 has two. Maybe if you swap the fan connections over you can at least see if the fan is ok, then work backwards.
X1 gun, do tell more.

I took the fans off at the weekend to investigate, and one appears to have collected water that's run off of the bonnet, and has rusted the bearings :-(

Does anyone know the best place to get a new fan, and approximately how much it'll be?

Thanks,

Dan.

See my post under cooling fans again (August 2001). Exactly the same fan, same manufacturer available from Europa Specialist Spares £52.50 + VAT & P&P.
Quote them part number 31052P
Hope this helps.

OK, thanks. Have you got a number for them? I tried their web-site but that wasn't very productive.

Thanks,

Dan.
