MK 3 Golf GTI Cam selection Advice
Discussion
For fast road and track use you can run a 260* or 270* and use factory management. The problem with running longer duration is the amount of overlap and this upsets the ECU. Have a look at Autotech, schrick, Newman and Kent as they all do a variety of cams which have subtle differences. For track you want a cam which will give good gains in the mid to high end of the rev range. A 260* for example will be lively between 3000-6500 a 270 will be nearer 3500 -7000.
A 288* is available but would need stand alone management and heavy duty valve springs to be worthwhile.
