Changing Water Pipes

Is it possible to change the metal water pipes that are under the front panel without breaking the water temperature gauge sensor? It's just I have read about this being a tricky thing. Is it possible to cut the old pipe to free up the sensor without damaging it?
Thanks
Yes its possible - done it about a month or so ago...just be careful. Guess it depends on how easily it free's from the old pipe...Thanks
Good luck

Just be carefull unscrewing it.
Gulp! Should I just use plenty of penetrating fluid and bit of heat?Just be carefull unscrewing it.
If there is a problem it a bit of a bugger as you will have to replace the whole unit
Hope it all goes to plan!
The job can be a bit more time consuming than you would imagine, make sure you use decent jubilee clips and try to change the rubber hoses too if possible. It can get a little confusing down there so its a good idea to jot a sketch of the system down before you dismantle it.
As for the capiliary to the gauge, just make sure you bath it in penetrating fluid, the top part of it will spin when undoing it so if the whole lot starts to turn, give it some more fluid and leave it a while.
Oh and when you come to refill the cooling system, do it by the book and take your time, bleed as much as is painfully possible with the engine off and cold, as they can be a git....
