thats almost as mad as his motorbike!

does it drive a gearbox or does it use thrust to make it move?

i always wondered how they get those huge jet powered tractor pulling things in scandanavian countries to drive the wheels.

CVT from the shaft?

What does a Jet ranger turbine make? 1000shp? Feckin horrible power curve too if it's not on a CVT!

Be a gearbox I should think - gas turbine engines drive gearboxes, rather than producing thrust - this is how the donor (helicoptor!) worked.

The answer to the second is the same reason the Veyron got built i.e. "because I can"

any idea on how the gearbox of a helicopter works? wonder if they are CVT or fixed gearing. just thinking that its more about the torque the engines put out than the rpm as the baldes change pitch to torque the engines. thinking that a CVT would enable the engines RPM (and thus torque/power) to fluctuate but the rotor RPM to remain the same.......just guessing.

Chris.

'fraid I don't know...but a post in the engineering/aircraft forum (whatever it's called) will probably get an answer smile

(Basically in simplistic terms, they have a rotor on a shaft in the exhaust flow and take the power off that (via a reduction gearbox))

Isn't there a GT-powered bike kicking about? Not sure if it made production but IIRC it was a 250kg, 400shp thing with 3 gears.

I remember years ago in Hot Rod magazine there was a hot rod roadster with the same engine, afair it had two gearboxes one behind the other
