you could try here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dave.hinns/index.htm

not sure weather it covers what you need but might help or use plenty of tipex and mark every thing up when you take it apart

If it's a split chain I'd be inclined to see if you can't just split the one that's on there, attach the new one to the end and wind it round by hand. Saves mucking around with cam timing.

I think the engine has to be removed in order to get the front cover off to get to the chain.

As far as I know, you can't get the timing chain cover off cars fitted with AC unless you remove the engine, as the chassis rail is in the way. Cars without AC should be fine.

The only other alternative is to cut the chassis rail out and then reweld it - shouldn't be too much of a problem, but isn't really the "proper" way to do it!

There aren't any. You need to use a TDC stop due to the spark plug hole angle not allowing the use of a DTI. (have a search)

right having big issues now i have set cylinder 1 to tdc . lined up marking that was on cam sproket to cam cover wich is will make cylinder 1 intake valve open correct. same to cylinder 8. intake valve going to open.

fitted the timing chain and rotated crank manualy clock wise wich is making the cams go anti clock wise and making contact somewher else . any ideas where i am going wrong does this engine run clock wise anti clockwise.

any help would be apreciated or even a drwawing as going nuts

cams do run anti clockwise, thats why the tensioner is on the right hand side in front of no1 cylinder.

did you receive my mail?
