Greetings chaps and chappeses.

Just returned from a sojourn in Espana and at the airport I noticed a plane taking off that I hope someone can ID from my cack description:

4 turboprops.
B29-like tail (classic Boeing sort of thing if that makes sense?! Was the thing that most stood out)
Grey.
Not huge like a C30...but not small either. Personnel transport? Kind of Dakota like....but clearly not...

Muchas Gracias.

Was it actually taking off or parked which airport? High wing/low wing?

DC4 sort of thing?

or the longer DC6

The Spanish also operate the P3 Orion which would be "grey looking"

Cheers

The DC reference might have been slightly misleading, it looked like a modern plane and when I said grey I mean military colours.

Was taking off, Palma, Mallorca.

Sounds like the P3 Orion then.

Ta. Although I'll clearly never be a pro plane spotter (auto-twitcher?) that makes me feel less of an unobservant doofus.

What airport were you flying from?

I was flying out of Palma at the end of April and noticed a CASA CN235 Spanish Coastguard aircraft at the airport.
There were constant overflights of Majorca by 235s and CASA 212s as well as Super Puma helicopters.

The Spanish are having major problems with illegal immigrants crossing the Med in clapped out boats.
