Headlight relays

Hi all

In a non-HID attempt to improve the headlights (original style) I have fitted philips bulbs which have helped but I've purchased one of these hopefully to improve things further still:

I assume its a kit to mod the lighting circuit so the feed from the boot fires a relay which switches a feed from the battery to the lights?

A lot of people have done this. You'll see a big improvement.

I put HIDs in my dips, and did this mod for the main beam. Works well.

Yes exactly that. Should reduce the voltage drop from the boot.

I was looking to make one up but at that price (provided it does what I want it too) I couldn't refuse.

I HID'd both my dipped and main. The main beam is like bloody daylight! Although i have the newer shape lights and the dipped are the projector type. I dont agree whith converting the standard reflector type headlights as it causes too much dazzle to other road users. (and that means you in the blue astra that blinds me on my way to work most mornings!)

I think it actually switches both main and dipped on at the same time. Just be careful with the heat involved. We don't have any nice metal to conduct the heat away.

I did this a few years ago, along with better quality bulbs (old style headlights). Big improvement.

PS While I was at it, I did the same for the cooling fans. I've got both fans triggered from the lower temperature input (one comes on at 95 the other at 98 degrees or something like that) and also a manual override switch on the dash for those long summer traffic jams

I've been looking to do this - my box at the back looks like a small war has gone on around the connector, and the connector repeatedly needs cleaning due to carbon build up.

just a quick question the small pods (hella) are H7 and mine have been altered so i have the HID dipped on constantly and the main beam can be turned on and off without the HIDS switching. problem is i want a direct feed from the battery and using the original wiring to be used as a "switch". would this kit suffice?

Hi there

This kit is for the H4 style bulbs where the main and dip filaments are in the same bulb. That's the old style round headlights.

If you have the later headlight arrangement you'll need a different one as they have different plugs. I'm not sure if the supplier has one for the H1 (?) or H7 (?) bulbs but I'm sure someone else will be along in a minute with some ideas.

I would have thought there would be a market for a kit such as this in the UK from one of the usual suspects (shpub? hint hint).

I know this is an old thread but I would like to do this mod to improve my lights. The link to the relays no longer works, please can someone tell me what the kit is actually called?

A decent set in a Cerbera does not cause any dazzle to oncoming users.

NOt sure if this is the exact kit that I bought but it looks pretty similar.

Mine deffo came from the States so I think it's probably the same one. It worked very well on my car and was easy to fit. I just added a fuse for each beam.

As long as the guage wire is good enough - and fused. You're good. Yet to fit mine back in. Car is having new injectors fitted at the mo.
