Hey everyone. Im looking at buying a new project in the next week or so, however its down in kent and i would need it trailored up to Edinburgh. What do you think my best option is? I have a van so can tow with it, but i sold my car trailer last month, as i dont think i can legally tow it without doing my trailor test first as im 23 and its not on my license.

So, do i hire/borrow a trailor and find someone to drive, pay somone to do it properly (£400), hope someone on here is about to take a car to kent and can pick mine up on the way home (unlikely lol), any suggestions?

There was a transporters forum somewhere for folk in the trade to organine return pickups to make trips more worthwhile, but i cant find it anywhere.

Anyone on here with a trailer fancy a wee paid holiday down south? wink

Thanks.

You would definately need to sit your trailer test before being legal. Someone is going to burn around £200 of diesel just to go down and bring it up for you, let alone their time. I would try a transport company like Perth Car Transport or Falkirk Car Carriers.

I got my Caterham trailored up from Guldford Surrey to Aberdeen for a really good price by a chap called David Bolton.

I flew down, bought the car, then met david who loaded up then dropped me at Heathrow. Spent a few hours in T5 and at 7pm he arrived in my street, perfect.

I will send you his mobile, and if flexible, it may tie in with him dropping another car off down south.

Cheers

I bought a car over the phone from a guy down past London a while back and used a turiff company called ALP Transport to bring it up.

Brilliant service, got it within a days and it was delivered right to my door.

Iirc it was around £270 as they had a transporter coming back up from down sarf anyway rotate

Could you fly down, pick up some bits locally so it rolls, and then phone the AA?

I've got B+E on my Licence, the Legnum has a towbar...

...not sure if it would do as much as 20mpg with a trailer though.

Elliot, we've got a couple of guys we use for work, will get their numbers for you 2moro.

Normally good prices and only charge you one way as they can normally tie it in with something else.
