Anyone know what sort of premiums are charged from track day insurance, per event? Can you get them at trackside?
Looking to renew my insurance and I've got a nice quote but it only covers TVR Car Club track days. As I intend to do some other days I'm trying to work out the best option.
TIA,
Lee

It is normally around 1% premium, with a 10% excess per event. It is much cheaper to take out a policy with several included as the above works out at £100 premium with a grand excess for a ten grand car!
Mike...
Yeah, think you're right. My renewal comes in at £120 over the new quote, but includes all car club organised events plus those covered by ATDO, FAEO and MSV. Think that means RMA are covered too. And the track excess is only £1300 on my existing one, rather than £3750 on the new one.Mike...
Old one doesn't cover the wife, but the new quote does.
Oh well, guess my wife still won't be insured on my car then

The 944 is currently insured by Hagerty's classic car policy.
10% of premium (so that comes to around 30 quid) per event, with excess at 10% value of the car (in my case, £1k).
Lee - that quote sounds good! If you don't mind me asking, who is the insurer and how much premium are you paying?

It's Mannings under their specialist TVR/Porsche/Aston Martin banner. The premium is £811 with £300 excess and £1000 on track days.
The premium should be smaller but (a) I have a few outstanding penalty points; 6 are 4.5 years old so may not count, 4 are only 2.5 years old. Yep, I've been a naughty boy in the past
(b)the premium hiked a fair bit when I had the engine modified from 3.6l to 4.0l. I think that last year I was looking at about £690 for the equivalent cover.Oh, the cost of being silly and greedy....
The premium doesn't look too bad, but then I'm a 20-something guy with 3 years of NCB (and no points...yet) so anything less than a grand would look good!
ETA: I'm paying around that for both my cars...which I guess isn't too bad for my demographic's risk profile!
I'd be interested to see what Mannings would quote for Porsche next year, although I doubt it'll be cheaper than the 300 quid I'm paying right now!

I'm with Greenlight who include track cover (all UK tracks except Castle Coombe) for £50 per day with your excess doubled for any claim (£600 for me then.)
Their premium isn't the cheapest @ £500 but I only have to do 3 days a year for it to, effectively, pay for itself.
I looked at places like CCI but it was the 10% of insured value as the excess that put me off. There is quite a difference between £600 worth of damage and £1500-£2000 worth of damage!

I've just renewed with Mannings. £300 seems pretty good Andy, but I guess it would be worth checking out Mannings.
That Greenlight deal sounds good too; too late for me this year, but I'll bear it in mind for next year.
It was £180 until I had all the work done to make it a track car and bumped the valuation up to £10k! I'll have to do a bit of homework over xmas when it next comes up for renewal...That Greenlight deal sounds good too; too late for me this year, but I'll bear it in mind for next year.
