A couple of years ago it looked like Fuel Funny cars were making a comeback in europe but it seems to have fizzled out. What happened to the Knighthawk car? where is the Nobby Hills car and the new Starkotter car? I think Patrick Pers is selling his car but that seems to leave Showtime, Shockwave, old Showtime and Mongoose. 6 to 8 cars with proper eliminations would be brilliant but I think the economy has probably put this out of reach.

the knighthawk car should supposedly be here within the next few weeks, the new starkotter is said to be ready for the end of this year or beginning of next.

They were never 'banned', they just fell out of favour, and so SHRA dropped them from the rulebook.

With todays news about Team Hawk Racing I thought i would revisit this thread.

How many Fuel Funny Cars are we likely to see out in 2010. Presumably Showtime, Shockwave, Mongoose and the Nataas car will be out and this will make 5 with the Hawk entry. If the rumoured new car from Leif is ready, we may end up with as many Funny Cars as Dragsters. What happened to the old Patrick Pers car? and the old Starkotter car?

It could be the start of something really exciting.

I wonder who's going to be driving the car now. Given that the team is no longer called Knight Hawk Racing, I'm guessing it's not going to be Paul Knight.

I work on the Nobby Hills car, we have a car ready to go, and all the trailer, awning, everything to look like a profesional race team, we are just waiting on sponsorship, which is so hard to find. If we could get someone with a nice cheque book we would be out there, we just don't have the spares to justify an entry to an event yet

We will be running at Easter with the FUEL Altered and then hopefully with a bit of help financial help and Mr Dave Bryant-coils help we will be running at Main Event and Euro Finals with the big boys. This all depends on Jason and Roy at FGR Motorsport making the dates so NO pressure lads lol.

You would have thought that but when push comes to shuv its my life its the only thing that keeps me sane. Jason offered to build me a new chassis to 10.5 which is the latest spec, and Roy is doing the body for the altered and then we are using the old Shockwave body. We have the KB for the altered and 2 TFX engines curtosy of King Knut although they were missing some of the bits he did me a great deal. Our sponsors have agreed to wrap the body so all we need is consumable funds. We are working hard to get a small sponsor on board so we can run the funny at the Main Event.

Great that there sounds like the possibility of 5 or 6 fuel funnies running at the big meets this season, pity the Houndog team is still a bit uncertain, I remember Nobby's cars from years ago and it would be great to see them back again. The other thing that is good is that most of them are British based and use their own car not something hired from Scandanavia. If only we could get a sponsor for a British championship with 3 or 4 rounds across the country and a final at the Pod.

Adding in the curved ball from Tony, we could see a 6 car field, with Showtime, Shockwave, Mongoose, Nataas, Hawk and Venom. With the possibility of the new Starkotter, Houndog and the ex Patrick Pers car we might see a full elimination field. This really could be bigger than the Top Fuel dragster entry by September.

I have the same plan for finacing Nobby's car, sponsorship is too hard to find at the moment, but I keep on trying! Will you be doing the altered season?

Yes as many as we can Chris but had no real confirmation of meets yet. Also waiting to see if we are getting any prize money or run money because all we have had for the last few years is what dropped out of Lawries pockets and we are forever indebted to him for that.

the funny car championship in England would be great and could happen, but Avon park need to upgrade the safety of the track before that could happen, change guardrail to concrete barriers etc.

the "so called" funny car world series did happen in 2008 with 4 funny cars, shockwave, mongoose, starkotter and knuts red line oil funny car. They ran at the pod twice, sundsvall, pitea and gardermoen. Then Knut retired so that was the only year it took place.
