I'm trying to find a decent party venue in The City. I know lots of bars don't have a rental charge at the weekends, which is ideal, but I was looking for something a bit more classical, perhaps a livery hall or similar - but do still like the idea of no rental charge - just a bar spend!

Has anyone got any recommendations?

The location for the final of the Apprentice looked rather suitable, anyone know where it was?

Thanks

The South Gallery at Camden Proud is free Monday to Wednesday. The other rooms are all chargeable but it's a good venue. I think you can have upto 150 in the south gallery and it has a sound system.

Been to an old brewery near London Wall I think.

Was good. But too pissed to remember the name.

Will ponder.

Perhaps a bit far from the City, but you are able to hire the venue hall at Lords for something different. Ask nicely and they will take your guests on a guided tour of the place. Very well catered too.

If you really want 'authentic' try the Cheshire Cat on Fleet St- the place is a maze of individual rooms.

For more modern, try the Coq d'Argent at Bank- open air drinking seven floors up.

I'd expect both to be glad of the custom at the weekend, though the Coq probably not cheap.
