The 3.0 V6 that is found in the Jag X-Type is that the same engine that's found in the Mondeo ST220?

Fundamentally yes, though the Mondeo has a different head and the Jag has solid lifters or "Direct Acting Mechanical Buckets" (DAMB) and there are a number of other minor differences.

Interesting, drove my FILs X-Type at the weekend and was impressed by how smooth it was, couldn't quite see it working as well in the ST though as it felt quite wafty.

It didn't seem to want to pull from low revs in a high gear though (however that could be because i'm used to the MX5).

I would expect something a bit more punchy in the ST.
