Anyone up for a spring trek across the US?
Discussion
Hello all. Well, it looks like I should be getting back to the states (Charlotte NC) in mid February. Being that I have owned my current Esprit since April, but have only been home 2 weeks since then, I am thinking of a long road trip when I get home.
I am thinking of a trip across the US and back, while documenting it with videos and making daily updates on my website with real time gps tracking. I am thinking about getting started this coming spring and of course going through some of the major citys, but I am more looking forward to the small towns throughout the US.
I would also like to plan the route to include as many Esprit owners as possible. Maybe even make a few of the club meetings throughout the country.
So, first of all, anyone want to join me with their Esprit? If you can't make it the whole way, whatever distance you would like to go would be fine. Next, anyone that wouldn't mind a house guest for a night (and maybe but hopefully not, help with some repair/maintainance) let me know so I can add your location on the route.
Also, if anyone has any ideas of any Esprit events, or any big car events for that matter, that may be interesting, let me know.
In case any of you were wondering, I got this idea after watching a program last night about an around the world trek on a motorcycle. I was thinking of how cool that would be to see all of those interestig places. But one of the biggest problems was the political climate in many of the places he traveled, as well as the basic safety issues. So I thought why not in the US? There are many interesting places that I havn't seen yet. Also, being that I have done a good bit of traveling in Europe the past couple of years, I have a new found respect of my country and the liberties we have to travel where ever we want to. Anyway, I am looking forward to it.
Any ideas anyone?
John

Well, you could always drive out to California and meet us at the following:
West Coast Lotus Meet, May 20-23
It'll be at Lake Tahoe this year.
I believe some Chicago members were talking about possibly driving out as well. If you combine with them, you'd have quite an Esprit caravan.
You can get event information & registration on-line at:
