Problem gluing hooding back onto targa panel - Help please

The hooding at the front of the targa panel is bubbling and unsticking. I've cleaned as much of the old adhesive off of both sides as I can, but Evo Stick will not bond with the hooding material.

Is Evo Stick the wrong adhesive / do I need to treat the hooding material with something 1st?

I expect there is a thread on here that will answer my question but unfortunately the search facility is down for maintenance.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many many years ago people had things called vynal roofs. Yes rubber carpet stuck to roofs to hide dents & such like,,, Evo stick is the right glue. paste the roof & inder side of material let it get really sticky nearly gone off then stick the 2 parts together. .. If both side are stuck together when wet, the glue cant dry as the solvents cant escape.. Problem over,, Good luck..
Do this in a venterlated area, or you will look like a spotty teenager out your nut in 15 minutes...LOL

Hi Roger,

As yellowgriff says, Evo-stik or equivalent contact adhesive is the correct glue to use. Make sure you get the old glue off of both the panel and the hood material as best you can. If possible use some sand paper to lightly scratch the surface of the panel where you are going to apply the glueas this will help to 'key' the surface helping the glue to grip/bond better. Coat both the panel and the underside of the roof material with Evo-stik, leave for 5-10 minutes (or whatever it says on the packet/tin) untill the glue is touch dry. Then carefully lay the roof fabric back down taking care not to trap any air pockets by smoothing towards the outside edge.

Thanks for the advice.

I think the problem was down to the waterproofing that I had used on the hood. Once thoroughly degreased the adhesive stuck to it.
