Report on me '86 911 3.2

Had it now for a couple of weeks, and starting to get it out onto the country roads. I fed it some oil..went for the Castrol GTX Magnatex 10w40; polished it to an inch of its life; though feels like it should have a wax as well, but cant face that at the moment. The car is looking good; then discovered a small nail in the back offside tyre..grr. Fixed that, and havent stopped since.
I have found in comparison to my 996, (and i know that this is stating the bleeding obvious) that the pedal arrangement is quite tricky for heel & toeing (and feels impossible for small footed people like me), as well as a new way of dealing with the clutch. Took me a little while to feel comfortable in traffic. When starting up..it races up & down before it gets to a steady idle, which I need to check out, not sure why its doing that. It also takes a little bit of time, wih clusth down, when selecting reverse (915 box)..but worth it instead of crunching into gear; 1st and 2nd are a bit tricky but seem to get easier the more into a journey.
The open road driving is excellent..i like the feeling that the back end wants to say hello to the front end at any time..and you can get the backend out quite easily which is nice. But i think i'll be careful in the forthcoming icy months. It feels quite light on the road, and maybe it might be worth my while to look at its set-up.
The noise, from the aircooled is good, and again very different to the sports exhaust of my 996; but i feel like improving on it (worth the expense?). Also want to change the steering wheel, but not sure its worth the 200 notes, wife would also like me to replace the wing mirrors to tear drop ones (3300+ notes?), and put seat belts in the back, and not go so fast.
Overall its far more fun than the C2 996 and I am looking forward to 9 months of non-depreciating motoring before the next.......

Worth it for noise- tho not if you plan track days as pre 993 911 in particular are a bit marginal for quite days even as standard (esp static tests), just don't expect any power gains from just a new exhaust.

Noooooooo don't do it, they look look awful on a impact bumper cars (IMHO)

Have been quite a few posts on the subject of exhausts.
Do a search.....but something along the lines of Ruf Techart or Fabspeed.IMO.

I had a similar characteristic on the '86 3.2 I owned a few years ago, and when I pulled up at traffic lights, I had to keep my right foot in to prevent the engine from stalling. It was really dangerous at busy junctions, when you need to think and act quickly. Never solved the problem.
On the plus side, though, the old 3.2's are really "organic" cars, aren't they? The way you have to lovingly caress that old (pre-G50) 'box until it warms up, the way the steering tugs at you ("I want to go this way!"), the farty spluttery noise at cold which is actually not altogether unpleasant, and the raucous bellow at full chat. Proper car.
