What the hell do I do.

OK this is a no brainer for most people no doubt but I am totaly in a quandry.
The port I work for wants rid of 130 of us and has asked for voluntary redundancies, I suspect that they allready know who they want to get rid of deadwood etc and without trying to blow my own trumpet I dont think I am one of them but they have cut my hours so much that I am now going to be struggling to pay all the bills.
So anyway my oh is from Melbourne Australia and has family down there and a place for us and the kids to stay,I am now nearly 52 and probably wont get another job in the UK, so do I sell everything and take my redundacy (not much about 10k) and take my chances down under or sit tight.

Get Gone!
I'm actually looking now at emigrating, Work is looking shaky so weighing my options.
I'm 24 and no dependants so not quite the same position.
Looking at Canada and New Zealand...also snooping around the USA.
Just do it man, Oz is just England if it was permanent Summer weather, and since you have 'family' there you should get though the red tape.

i did it but on a smaller scale, i left leeds to go to london not knowing what could happen, i went through a messy breakup and lots of low points and now looking for a new job.... but it was the best thing i ever did and would have regretted not doing it and love every minute down here now.... im looking to move again to outside of the uk and have no issues leaving it all behind again.

Can't you go for an extended holiday to get a true feel for the place as it sounds like you have a lot of "issues" with the possibility of being there fulltime.
Me: I'd be there faster than runny s
t off a chrome shovel personally.
Good luck whatever you decide to do.
Yes your right Nolar and what makes it worse is my other half moved here for me and left everything behind and I feel so guilty and selfish.Me: I'd be there faster than runny s

You KNOW the answer! Do you really want to grow old in the UK, with the freezing weather? Do you want to watch this country go down the drain, and be here when it happens, or sitting in the sun in Melbourne reading about it in the newspaper? The port I work for wants rid of 130 of us and has asked for voluntary redundancies, I suspect that they allready know who they want to get rid of deadwood etc and without trying to blow my own trumpet I dont think I am one of them but they have cut my hours so much that I am now going to be struggling to pay all the bills.

.I'd at least be using some of the redundancy money to have a holiday and "just see..."
