Fuel hose pipe but what is the other one?

Watching the eurosport tv feed and noticed in the pits that some of the cars have two hoses attached. I know there is obviously one for fuel but what is the other one for?

No, there is a hose that goes in at the opposite side to the fuel pipe.

Any ideas?

Yeah, was wondering if it is maybe a vent for when the fuel is going in but I reckon it is something else.

If these are for the derv cars could it be 'ad blue' or whatever it is called to lower derv emissions???

Nope, it's the fuel vent. It's either on the same side (as fuel in) and it's a double hose or it's on the opposite side and it's a single hose. 1 hose delivers the fuel, the other takes the displaced air out.

All the cars have a vent, however, depending on the design of the fuel system there can be a requirement for the vent hose to be on the opposite side to the fuel delivery hose. This is normally on GT cars rather than prototypres which use the 2 hose/1 side variety.

In one hose???

You need air out when you put in fuel at the rate they do. 8-10 litres per second?? they'd be there forever with one hose

To be fair, the F1 fuel hoses, whilst appearing to be one hose, are actually a hose within a hose, so there is a precedent for the visual appearance. I think the LNT Ginetta may be using the hose within a hose solution.

defo air out if they did not have it,it would take as long as you or I when we fill up, now that would not do

if you put a tiny bit of vacuum on air out (sealed) it sucks in fuel faster - !!!!!
