Gentlemen -

Just in case it is of interest, I recemtly renewed the insurance on my Wedge, and took some time to make comparisons and negotiate what I feel is a good deal.

The two finalists after looking at my existing broker (unhappy experience) and several others including Classic Line who initially appeared to be competitive were:-

Insurance Factory (insurancefactory.co.uk 0800 440 2067)
Carole Nash (carolenash.com 0800 093 5511)

Both started off quoting around the £250 mark via the same insurer, Chaucer; also with the same benefits -

breakdown
recovery
homestart
euro recovery
euro cover
agreed value
radio cover (I've never lsitened to it!)
windscreen cover
legal expenses

Fully comp, 3,000 miles (I've actually done 10,000 miles in more than five and a half years).

After some serious haggling, I got it down to £220 and then, with a bit of a push and some cheek, £200 all in.

As some of you know, I also have a DR10 from a couple of years ago, so overall quite a good deal.

Both companies were a pleasure to deal with and I can wholeheartedly recommend them both.

I hope this may be of some help to one or two of you.

Cheers!
JJ

What's a DR10?

Did you try Hagerty? I renewed in February: '87 390SE, 3000 miles, fully comp, one named driver, one SP30, garaged, agreed value: £150.57. I'm nearer 50 than 40 frown

No, I didn't try Hagerty. They didn't want to quote last year because of the DR10, just as a few others didn't including Carole Nash. I thought they might not want to do so again this year - but carole Nash did quote. Maybe I should have tried them. Your deal at £150 is exceptioally good.
