Just put a batch of beer together yesterday - a full Monty black stout, with an OG of 1100. Using some Californian Ale Yeast from White Labs, which is supposed to be able to handle a high abv, but can't get the buggers to start! Yeast was taken out of the fridge about 4hours before use, pitched at about 30C, brewpot kept at about 15-20C and have seen not a peep of activity for 24 hours.

Any ideas on what to do? I am very loathe to toss this lot without trying to get going.

Cheers

I'd suggest putting the brewpot in a warmer place for a couple of days until the yeast gets going, 15-20C is fine once it's going, but it could usually do with being a bit warmer to start.
