This bird strike on take-off and subsequent tower communication is all caught on camera.

Respect to the pilots and tower - very smooth and professional!

Edited to add: Also a great article on a LearJet repo man http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2009/06/06/lear_...

I spotted this birdstrike clip from the pilots point of view in a fighter jet too - they ended up ejecting.

I am sorry, but that was the dullest video I have ever watched, apart from the "puff puff puff" of the engine.

I often see plane spotters at Heathrow and i have wondered what they listen to on those radios (or whatever they are, I dont care) and now I know I think they are even more dull! confused

Nice production on the video though. biggrin

I on the other hand found it quite interesting, but I do work in the industry! wink
Nice find OP, I didn't realise there was a video with overlayed ATC & pilots...
I'd only ever seen the video!

yes What weirdo would prefer to go outside and watch a 105 tonne piece of metal swallow some wildlife rather than staring at a Geordie TV star/part time singer and posting about it on an internet forum, or even buying a particular colour shirt and posting about it on the same internet forum. The time must fly by at the GTIR household. wink

I was very dissapointed when I clicked on the link, the title led me to believe it was a plane flying through a flock of birds and 757 of them struck the plane!

What would have made it more interesting for you? The pilot screaming into his mike "Oh my God, we're all going to die!!!!" and then the engine exploding with the plane nosediving into the ground?

I actually think that the coolness and calmness of the crew in dealing with what could have been a serious incident is testament to their professionalism.

And why did you feel the need to comment on someone else's hobby in such a rude and derogatory manner? What do you do in your spare time? I'm sure lots of other people might find whatever you enjoy inordinately dull and boring too.

We can't all be the same.

The video of the fighter swallowing a bird is a bit of a mish-mash. I think the aircraft was a Hawk in Canada, but the other clips show an F16. I think there's another somewhere with just the inside footage.

I can see the appeal of airband receivers but then again, i'm one of the parties that broadcasts on them.

Didn't that Hawk hit some lapwings over a lake?
I vaguely recall seeing a video of that incident, but can't remember the type... scratchchin

I don't know mate, all i've ever seen is the HUD footage with the sound over the top. From the inside it looked like they climbed out, ate a bird, turned crosswind and then 'left in a hurry and took the furniture with them'.

I'll search the Military forum on Pprune, as I think that's where I first saw it.

Maybe you should try evolving your "sense of humour" into something a bit more sophisticated - and funnier.
