John had a terrible weekend at Snetterton. Misfire on the Saturday and punted off and electrics on Sunday.
I think he wishes he'd stayed at home!!!!!!
I think it's the last time he'll want me wishing him luck before a race I think he wishes he'd stayed at home!!!!!!

Good to see the Cerbera though, and nice to meet you John, shame about the result, were you punted off twice? I assume you didn't start at the back of the grid? We were watching from the start of the Revett straight, you seemed to be making good progress and then dissapear for a while again?
Well done Mike btw

Nice one Mike, well done
Picked up a couple more sponsors I see

Fubar - I did notice the sponsor on the side ..
Don't Massey group make tractors..

Thanks guys. It was a very good weekend! Sorry to hear about Johns issues.
Everything went fairly smothly. Our pole position lap was a 48.4 which i was pleased with. I was hoping to get into the 47's but after looking at the onboard video i think it would have been achievable if i had found a clear lap (a lot of traffic in quali!)
The racing was good. Still stuggling to get away without spinning the rears but it was much better than at Cadwell.
Thanks
Mike

Was great to see you racing Mike .. the fact you don't get away well (whilst being frustrating for you) is good for spectators though because you have to make passes to get back in front, that's always good to watch. Your consistant pace whilst out in front though must make the tuscan race boys scratch their heads .. how can a converted road car be faster than the factory's own bespoke race car? Unbelievable but true, awesome result and great to see

Firstly congratulations to Mike on two wins.
Seeing as there are a few references to race Tuscans I thought it would be interesting to compare some times from the Tuscan races in 2004. Back then the Tuscans ran on softer compound tyres, but absolutely no aero, sequential boxes, wide wheels, trick ECUs, exhausts, throttle bodies, 4.7 engines etc...
Pole was taken by Valle Makela. He was a pretty tasty driver - I think he'd just won a British Championship - Formula Ford maybe - and he'd been offered a guest drive in Ben Samuelson's no 58 car. Everyone was surprised to see him jump in the car and take pole with a 47.824.
My own qualifying time was 49.437 - I was using tyres which had also done a round at Oulton Park - they were in reasonably good nick, but in those days we tended to have a new set per weekend and they wouldn't have been at their best. Hugh did a 50.12 (I doubt he had new boots either)
Speed trap results were interesting - Makela was clocked at 142.1mph over the finish line, I wasn't far off at 141.5mph - I was clearly losing it all in the corners.
Fast forward to 2006 and a harder compound tyre. I qualified on pole with a 50.273 - can't remember what state the tyres were in, only that they were the harder compound. I'd guess that the softer tyres were worth about a second of overall lap time.
I don't know what compound tyres Mike is currently using. If its the 629 compound then his lap times compare with a theoretical 'best' Tuscan time of ~ 48.8 (i.e. Makela's time plus a second). If he's using a softer comound then that complicates the comparison.
Whatever way you look at it, Mike is extremely driving well and has that car going bloody well too.
If nothing else it gave me an excuse for digging out some old timesheets and reminising. That Brands meeting in 2004 was the last time Peter (Wheeler) raced his Tuscan. He and I were scrapping it out for 6th place in the Championship. I only needed to finish one of the races ahead of him and 6th was mine. We were both on slicks on a wet track and he was behind me coming into Clearways on the last lap - he stuck his nose up the inside, clouted my rear wheel with his front.... I span out, stalled and the engine wouldn't restart. He carried on, tootled round onto the straight and then accelerated when he saw someone closing in - only to find his steering was broken. He crossed the line scraping down the pit wall. We did both see the funny side of it (me eventually!).
Anyway, well done Mike, and commiserations to Jonny - sounds like you had one of those days!

I was waiting for BCA to put in an appearance on the thread before mentioning that

For racers, maybe... I'd still fancy shorty's original GTO could shade it... and that was.. err slightly blue and green.

On road cars, on road biased tyres, I believe theres an experiment early september every year on a road 1/4 mile? If memory serves me correctly, the fastest TVR on the day is a BLUE one, followed by the fastest CERBERA on the day, which is a err... BLUE one.

Edit: Mike, - superb stuff. I have to echo the comments below, just ridiculous pace.

We all use 257 compound in the challenge (One harder i believe than the one mentioned above)
I will have a look at my data tonight and see what kind of speed we were reaching.
Do you have any times for Cadwell? Or Brands GP?
Thanks
