got a problem starting the old girl turn the key the battery light dims and nothing go back 10 mins later and all hell breaks loose and away we go park up have a drink go to start and nothing then when shes ready she will start any ideas

If you can hear the starter clicking when you turn the key it will be the starter solenoid sticking or not getting a good contact.

My S has a starting problem when hot which I think relates to the starter jamming slightly. Put it in gear rock the car gently with handbrake off and then clutch down and starts no problem. If left to cool down it will clear.
